ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳

The Latin America and the Caribbean Gender Innovation Lab, LACGIL, provides ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ operational teams, policy makers, and development practitioners with knowledge to promote gender equality and drive change in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The LACGIL is hosted by the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s Poverty and Equity Global Practice, and the team supports studies to learn what works to close gender gaps and disseminates research findings to broad audiences.

AREAS OF WORK

The new ? focuses on three strategic objectives: 1) end gender-based violence and elevate human capital, 2) expand and enable economic opportunities, and 3) engage women as leaders.?

Within these areas, the LACGIL carries out both ¡®inferential studies¡¯ to identify gender gaps and their drivers and ¡®impact evaluations¡¯ to test solutions to these gaps.

HOW THE GENDER INNOVATION LAB WORKS

PARTNERS

The LACGIL works in partnership with units across the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, governments, non-governmental organizations, aid agencies, private sector firms, and academic researchers. The LACGIL is part of the Gender Innovation Lab Federation which brings together the work of the Bank¡¯s five regional GILs and is coordinated by the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳¡¯s Gender Group.

FUNDING

The LACGIL receives its funding in part from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Group's Umbrella Facility for Gender Equality (UFGE), a multi-donor trust fund administered by the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to advance gender equality and women's empowerment through experimentation and knowledge creation to help governments and the private sector focus policy and programs on scalable solutions with sustainable outcomes. The UFGE is supported by generous contributions from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund.
