Portugal became a member of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development ¡ª the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ ¡ª in March 1961. Today, Portugal is a member of the five institutions that form the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Group. Portugal and the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ work with other member governments to finance projects, design policies, and deliver programs to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity.

Established in 1960, IDA aims to reduce poverty by providing loans (called ¡°credits¡±) and grants for programs that boost economic growth, reduce inequalities, and improve people¡¯s living conditions.
