Projects

As of June 2024, the Government of Japan has contributed US$854.3 million to the JSDF program, funding nearly 800 projects. The JSDF has become the leading source of support for innovation in multi-sector social poverty alleviation programs, responding directly to the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable.

Acting as a model for social development and livelihood improvement, JSDF-supported projects have been scaled up with funding from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, recipient countries, and other development partners. These projects effectively contribute to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s mission of ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity on a livable planet.

The JSDF intervenes in the following areas:

  • Improved Nutrition and Early Childhood Development
  • Inclusive Education
  • Improved Access to Basic Health and Sanitation Services
  • Improved Entrepreneurial Skills and Access to Employment
  • Enhanced Adaptation to Climate and Disaster Risk, including in Agriculture
  • Strengthened Local Governance and Accountability

More than 50 percent of JSDF grants have been implemented by civil society organizations in about 93 low- and lower-middle income member countries.
