As of June 2024, the Government of Japan has contributed US$854.3 million to the JSDF program, funding nearly 800 projects. The JSDF has become the leading source of support for innovation in multi-sector social poverty alleviation programs, responding directly to the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable.
Acting as a model for social development and livelihood improvement, JSDF-supported projects have been scaled up with funding from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, recipient countries, and other development partners. These projects effectively contribute to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s mission of ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity on a livable planet.
The JSDF intervenes in the following areas:
- Improved Nutrition and Early Childhood Development
- Inclusive Education
- Improved Access to Basic Health and Sanitation Services
- Improved Entrepreneurial Skills and Access to Employment
- Enhanced Adaptation to Climate and Disaster Risk, including in Agriculture
- Strengthened Local Governance and Accountability
More than 50 percent of JSDF grants have been implemented by civil society organizations in about 93 low- and lower-middle income member countries.
