Consultations on Inclusion and Non-Discrimination in ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-Financed Projects in Uganda
ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ worked with the Government of Uganda (GoU) and local communities to identify risks and develop additional mitigation measures to strengthen inclusion and non-discrimination of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and groups in ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-financed projects following the enactment of the 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act.
Following the principles of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳¡¯s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), the GoU lead consultations with civil society organizations and the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ on the proposed additional measures from January 16-19, 2024, in Kampala. Participants, mostly from CSOs, provided feedback on the proposed measures that ensure that project benefits reach all targeted individuals and groups without exception.
All relevant E&S documents of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-financed projects in the current portfolio have been updated by the Government of Uganda to incorporate specific mitigation measures arising from the AHA. Below are the list of updated project documents and the links to their disclosure.
