The physical execution of MCHPP Extension is expected to be via two (2) contracts: (i) Civil works ¨C extending the existing powerhouse, and (ii) combined EM and HM works ¨C new turbines, generators, transformers, and ancillary systems, associated penstocks, gates, and related hydraulic components, tailored to the market and to be awarded in accordance with the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Procurement Regulations. LEC retains an international panel of experts to advise on MCHPP Extension design and procurement packages, ensuring technical soundness and value for money.
LEC is undertaking Early Market Engagement (EME) to engage with prospective contractors and suppliers before a formal procurement process. The EME will help inform key design, contractual, and strategic choices by (i) gauging market interest and capacity among qualified contractors and suppliers, and obtaining feedback from suppliers on packaging, scoping preference, etc., and (ii) validating the most competitive and feasible procurement packaging structure for the extension, based on market responsiveness. It will also provide prospective suppliers and contractors with information on the project needs and requirements and procurement procedures to be followed
