ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳

Khwima Nthara is the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Country Manager for the Lao PDR, having joined the team in Vientiane in mid-2025. ?

He joined the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Group in February 2005 as Country Economist for Malawi,?and has since held various positions across the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, most recently as Country Manager for Papua New Guinea, and previously in?Liberia in the West Africa Region.?

Before joining the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Mr. Nthara was the Manager of Deloitte¡¯s Development Consulting Practice, Manager of the UK-funded Malawi Trade and Poverty Program, and Economics Lecturer at the University of Malawi. During that period, he also consulted for many organizations and institutions, including the Budget and Finance Committee of Malawi¡¯s Parliament, the UK¡¯s Department for International Development (DFID), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union, Commonwealth Secretariat, and the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.

Mr. Nthara is a Malawian national and holds a Ph.D. in Economics as well as a Masters¡¯ Degree in Economics of Developing Countries, both from the University of Cambridge. He also holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Economics from the University of Malawi.
