The proposed Durban Harbour desalination and reuse project (the ¡°Project¡±) envisages the rehabilitation and expansion of existing wastewater treatment facilities; greenfield development of a potable reuse plant and of a seawater desalination plant; on the site of the existing Central Treatment Plant.IFC has been approached by the eThekwini Municipality in South Africa (the ¡°Client¡±); to act as transaction advisor for the feasibility assessment; structuring and tendering of a competitive transaction to identify a private partner to develop the Project; under a Public-Private-Partnership contract. IFC; in its capacity of lead transaction advisor; will be responsible for: (i) coordinating and monitoring all Project workstreams; including technical; environmental; legal; economic and financial due diligence; and (ii) supporting the Client in the design and implementation of the transaction (e.g. bidding processes). The above workstreams will be implemented with support from a specialized external consulting firms.IFC seeks expressions of interest from technical; environmental and social consulting firms with specialized experience in desalination; wastewater treatment and reuse; ideally in South Africa; that will be part of the team of multidisciplinary consultants that will be procured and retained by IFC for the Project.
